Established in 2017, Dokutoku is helmed by Australian DJ/producer Katie Drover. With a release schedule that’s as concerned with showcasing both functional and experimental records, the label’s ambition is to connect with and build a collective of artists who share similar ideals.
Dokutoku (独特) has many meanings in Japanese - ‘Uniqueness’, ‘Peculiarity’, ‘Learning by oneself’, and aptly enough, ‘Strange Germany’, all of which play their part in describing the soul of the imprint. Artists featured on the label thus far include the likes of Alexkid, Cesar Merveille, DoubtingThomas, BirdsMakingMachine, Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts and Katie herself.
