- The collection brings together Daniel Lopatin's first three albums, plus a batch of rare cassette and CD-R material.
Daniel Lopatin, AKA Oneohtrix Point Never, has revealed details for a five-piece vinyl box set called RIFTS.
Oneohtrix Point Never is one of the most popular experimental acts of the past few years, thanks to the albums like Returnal and Replica (not to mention his collaborative work with artists like Tim Hecker and Joel Ford). RIFTS compiles the American drone artist's first three albums—Betrayed in the Octagon, Zones Without People and Russian Mind—plus two additional LPs of rare and out-of-print material originally released on cassette or CD-R (a CD version, which came out in November, featured only the first three albums).
All five records come in a deluxe slipcase, with each one packaged in its own individual jacket. The box set will be released in a run of 1,000 copies on Software Records, a sub-label of Mexican Summer run by Lopatin. You can hear selections from the box set on the label's SoundCloud page.
