In 2016 we'll celebrate club culture by throwing events at 12 of the world's best clubs.
RA will celebrate 12 of the world's best dance floors with a year's worth of parties, launching at Chicago's Smart Bar in March 2016.
Clubs are the beating heart of dance music. In Residence throws the spotlight on venues that keep their local scenes flourishing. Week-in, week-out, these clubs—and hundreds of others in cities across the globe—open their doors to play the music we love. They provide a platform to nurture upcoming talent and showcase revered international guests in an environment with great sound and dedicated staff. Without clubs, we have no club culture: the people, the sounds, the moments. Now is time to celebrate.
After 15 years of participating in and supporting club culture, we've decided to take up residence at 12 of the world's finest clubs. Throughout 2016, we'll team up with one club every month to host four events that highlight what makes these places so special. The goal is to celebrate venues that maintain the highest standards of production, programming and artistry.
The first In Residence stop is Chicago's legendary Smart Bar in March with DJ Harvey, The Black Madonna, DJ Nobu, Eric Cloutier, Roman Flügel, Tin Man, Mood II Swing, Analog Soul and Michael Serafini. Next up it's Concrete in Paris in April. The boat venue has been central to the French capital's techno renaissance, and we've got Jackmaster, Veronica Vasicka, Abdulla Rashim, Move D, Margaret Dygas, Shanti Celeste, FIT Siegel, Nicolas Lutz, Cabanne, Maurice Fulton, Max Graef, Glenn Astro and a host of local favourites.
Our third stop takes us to one of the most revered dance floors in the game: Offenbach's Robert Johnson. Our four dates in May will see a mix of local favourites— Ata, Gerd Janson—and guests The Black Madonna, Mike Servito, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jeremy Underground, Prosumer and Lexx stopping by for a series of back-to-back sets.
The In Residence series will allow us to closely engage with local scenes and produce definitive stories about the clubs and the people who run them. This archive will form a historical record of the clubs that lead the way. The next three clubs in the In Residence series will be announced soon.
