- August Day will re-release the Kompakt artist's 1999 debut album next month.
The first full-length effort from Justus Kohncke, Spiralen Der Erinnerung (The Memory of Spirals), is due for re-release in September.
In 1999, after working for seven years with DJs Hans Nieswandt and Eric D. Clark as Whirlpool Productions, the Cologne-based producer and DJ put out his first solo album under his own name. Spiralen Der Erinnerung presented a collection of electronic reinventions from Köhncke of some of his favourite rock and popular classics, from the likes of Paul McCartney and Neil Young to more avant-garde acts like John Cale and The Velvet Underground. The initial 1999 release was issued in vinyl format only, but thanks to the UK's August Day Recordings, it will be digitally re-released next month.
