Cookies marks five years on Friedrichstrasse with DJ Koze

- Following a month that will see performances from Portable, Radio Slave, XDB and others, the Mitte nightclub will shut down for a month.
- Cookies will celebrate its fifth year at its current location on Saturday, January 21st with oddball house artist DJ Koze. Cookies has been a feature of Berlin's clubbing landscape since the mid-'90s, moving through six different locations before landing at the current one near the corner of Friedrichstrasse and Unter den Linden. In some respects it's an alternative to the rest of the city's club circuit: since the beginning its parties have happened mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the atmosphere is a bit swankier than the average Berlin club, with retro decor and an elegant in-house restaurant, Cookies Cream. Supporting DJ Koze at the upcoming anniversary party is Norman Methner, the club's music director. This Tuesday Cookies will host a fashion week party featuring Portable (playing live), with DJ support from Radio Slave and Running Back boss Gerd Janson. The rest of the month will see performances from DJ Hell, Till von Sein, Tristen and Oskar Offermann of White Records and local dub techno specialist John Osborn, who will host XDB at his regular TANSTAAFL residency. Cookies will be closed for the month of February (for reasons that are "top secret" at this point), just after an "Out With a Bang" party featuring Kiki and Chaim.
