- Arc Light Editions, a new label out of Bristol, will handle the re-release of the posthumous album later this year.
Arthur Russell's 1994 album Another Thought will get a vinyl reissue later this year.
Originally released two years after Russell's passing, the LP compiled many unfinished and demo recordings from 1982-1990. It's nevertheless described by Arc Light Editions as "perhaps the most sonically coherent album ever released of Russell's material." For some background, the American artist was an important musical force through the late '70s and '80s, making left-field disco as Loose Joints and Dinosaur as well as more withdrawn solo work such as 1986's revered World Of Echo. He died in 1992 and left behind a rich legacy of music that's been documented on a number of re-releases and posthumous compilations.
The label spearheading the reissue is Arc Light Editions, a new arm of Bristol's Multiverse Music (also home to Tectonic and Subtext) run by The Wire's Jennifer Lucy Allan, according to The Quietus. The new version of Another Thought will come on double vinyl with artwork by Allan, though an exact release date has not been set.
