  • Elsewhere will open at 599 Johnson Avenue in Bushwick this fall. The 24000-square-foot warehouse will contain five separate spaces, including a 5000-square-foot performance hall for live music and dance nights. There will also be a smaller performance space as well as a rooftop bar available for parties and film screenings, plus an additional cafe with a small food menu. It's operated by PopGun Presents, the team behind former independent Williamsburg venue Glasslands, which closed in 2014. "We started looking for a location in the winter of 2013, and it took us about a year and a half to find it," says Dhruv Chopra, who will be responsible for Elsewhere's operations. "Large portions of the building were covered in rusting corrugated steel… and there was this disused floating bridge structure hovering above the courtyard. I think most people would have looked at the building and thought, 'This isn’t the right spot for a music venue,' but we felt an immediate connection to it." There's no exact opening date yet, though PopGun is aiming for the fall of 2016.
