- The autobiographical LP lands on Pastel Voids next month.
Santiago Salazar will put out his second album on September 4th.
Aspirations For Young Xol is an autobiographical project for the California techno artist. It's inspired by experiences ranging "from the growth of his son into adulthood to memories of growing up in Bassett, California, a struggling Latino suburb outside of Los Angeles," the label says. One track, "Orange Blossom," is based on the street he grew up on—he would "creep through the street to avoid gang members." Another, "Sara Rivera," is an ode to a childhood friend who was gunned down next to Salazar's home.
Coming through Pastel Voids, Aspirations For Young Xol is a follow-up to Salazar's 2015 debut album, Chicanismo. Its release next month will coincide with that of a collaborative EP he produced with Ricardo Miranda, Episode 3, for his own Major People label.
