  • London's fabric has donated nearly £68,000 in proceeds from its 2016 fundraising campaign to reopen to charities and other causes. After the nightclub was closed by authorities last year, it started the #saveourculture campaign, which raised more than £330,000 and ended with the club striking a deal with police and Islington Council to reopen in January of 2017. The club has now released a statement detailing its plans for the leftover funds. Four bodies—The Loop, NTIA, Music Venue Trust and Centrepoint—will each receive around £13,500, while a further four—Midi Music Company, Make-A-Wish UK, Nordoff Robbins and YUAF—will get roughly £3,300 each. The club also unveiled its donor board, which has been installed in the bar leading into Room Two and includes the names of the people who gave money towards fabric's fight to reopen. They have also added two artworks by John Bate to the club's interior—one on the mezzaine above Room One, and another by the donor board. The club will celebrate its 18th birthday this weekend with a Fabriclive event on Friday followed by a marathon party that runs from Saturday night until Monday morning.
