- Mitteltöner is due out next month on Origin Peoples.
K. Leimer has a new album called Mitteltöner coming out in January.
Mitteltöner—German for "midrange"—is a rare new vinyl release for Leimer, a well-regarded artist who has been making avant-garde and ambient music since the '70s. (If you're not familiar, the archival compilation put out on RVNG Intl. a few years ago makes a good primer.) According to the Origin Peoples imprint, which is handling Mitteltöner's release, the album "takes its conceptual cues from the idea that the midrange contains all the core information," while also serving as something of an homage to artists who've inspired Leimer, like Cluster and Neu. Its ten tracks were produced using "tape loops, Moog tones and a variety of real and imagined instruments."
