Tadd Mullinix announces debut album from new project X-Altera

- The self-titled record, out in June, was inspired by old-school drum & bass and '90s techno from Detroit and London.
- Tadd Mullinix, AKA JTC and Dabrye, has a new project called X-Altera. The Michigan producer found the inspiration for the project while digging through his archives and record collection—specifically, "the jungle he produced in the late '90s as half of Soundmurderer & SK-1, the forgotten B-sides of his drum & bass record collection" and "the deep, melodic techno of Detroit and London," according to the press release. "I want the song structure of this certain style of jungle," Mullinix says, "but the syntax of something that's a lot closer to me geographically. So I'm using tropes from techno and drum & bass at the same time, without relying too much on one or the other." As usual, X-Altera will come through Ghostly. It's Mullinix's second album of the year, following Three/Three under his hip-hop alias Dabrye.
