- That's 15 times the sales figures of a regular day.
Bandcamp sold $4.3 million of music and merch during their Friday direct-to-artists sale.
Last Friday, the music service waived all of its usual fees so all money would go directly to accountholders. (Many record labels followed suit, also giving all the money made off their Bandcamp accounts to the featured artists.) Bandcamp says fans bought 15 times the usual daily amount. In pure numbers, users purchased 800,000 items, whereas the daily average hovers around 47,000.
We made a list of Bandcamp Friday releases, along with labels that gave all proceeds to their artists (many of which have pledged to continue through March and April), for our Bandcamp Friday Buyer's Guide.
