- All net profits will go to Kooyrigs, a non-governmental organization supporting rural and war-torn communities.
Critique, a ten-month old label and artist development agency in Los Angeles, has released a compilation featuring artists of Armenian heritage.
Out today, February 19th, YERAZ [Past, Present And Future Armenian Sounds From Los Angeles To Yerevan] features ten tracks spanning techno, house, downtempo and folk. Contributors include Club Chai cofounder Lara Sarkissian, Yerevan-based producer KamavoSian, Iranian-Armenian theremin player Armen Ra and Los Angeles-based producer Bei Ru.
Everybody involved in YERAZ, from the producers to the graphic designers to the vinyl manufacturers, is Armenian. "We are coming together to establish a new precedent for ourselves and our community," Critique founder, Zach Asdourian, told Resident Advisor.
All net profits from album sales will go to Kooyrigs, an organization that supports rural and war-torn communities in Armenia. Critique aims to raise $50,000 for Kooyrigs this year through projects that combine music and Armenian culture.
