- It's out in October via Transgressive Records.
Mykki Blanco has a new album on the way.
Landing October 14th via Transgressive Records, Stay Close To Music is the second record to come from the batch of songs recorded pre-pandemic alongside FaltyDL. (The first was 2021's Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep). The new LP features several cameos, including ANOHNI, Devendra Banhart, Saul Williams and R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe.
"I wanted to see what it would be like to go back and be a musician from another time where you had to start every ingredient raw from scratch," Blanco said. "That process, ideology and way of making music hasn't only changed me as a musician; it has creatively changed me as a person."
The latest single, "French Lessons," features US singer and cellist Kelsey Lu. Blanco described it as a "reflection on the possibility of true love" and "an ode in a way to Lou Reed." Watch the video.
