  • A new compilation spotlighting Brussels label SSR Records is coming out in May. Spanning nine cuts of house, acid, downtempo and more, SSR Records: In Retrospect includes music by Move D, Gemini, Glenn Underground, Nu Era, Herbert, Hans G, Solar Quest and Modulate. All the tracks came out between 1990 and 1996. The compilation is a joint release between legendary Brussels label Crammed Discs and newer outlet Hi Scores, run by Kong DJ, who curated the tracklist. Both the digital and vinyl versions come with extensive liner notes, detailing the origins of each record. Launched in Brussels in 1988 by Marc Hollander, SSR was a sub-label of Crammed Discs. Hollander ran the outlet alongside Minimal Compact singer Samy Birnbach, AKA DJ Morpheus. It wound down in 2002 after releasing nearly 200 records. Listen to two tracks from SSR Records: In Retrospect via Bandcamp, as well as snippets of the whole compilation via SoundCloud.
