  • New York's DFA Records are to host a hometown Halloween Bash, with the help of ghoulish Michigan label Ghostly International. With the names Death From Above and Ghostly, the labels' first ever event collaboration should be quite the creepshow. The party, in Brooklyn club Studio B this Wednesday, features artists from both rosters including T&T (Tim Goldsworthy of the DFA and Beats in Space's Tim Sweeney), The Juan Maclean, Derek Plaslaiko and Morgan Geist of Metro Area. This frighteningly good (sorry!) lineup is topped off with a live performance from Matthew Dear's Big Hands, the band version of the techno producer's latest album, 'Asa Breed'. A homecoming of sorts for Dear, this will be the last date of his world tour with Big Hands, and his first gig as a resident of NYC. Brave souls attending this frightfest can expect disco old and nu, techno played by live musicians and produced by machines, and spooky cosmic Italo. There's also a cash prize for the best Halloween costume, but wannabe winners take note: throwing on a sheet and claiming to be the Ghostly International logo isn't going to cut it.
