- A recent trip provides the inspiration for George Evelyn's new album.
Warp Records will release the new album from Nightmares on Wax, entitled thought so…, on August 25th.
Those who listened to 1995's Smoker's Delight around the time of its release know that Leeds producer George Evelyn can capture the zeitgeist. His trip-hop masterpiece was a dubtastic take that seemed to be the quintessential statement from a smoked-out genre.
Now, following 2006's In a Space Outta Sound, Evelyn tries to once again chase a vibe, this time attaching the sound of Ibiza to his easy-going production style. The album, claims the press notes, "was inspired by a special journey from [his] birthplace, Leeds to his new family home located right in the middle of Ibiza. Instead of shipping all his studio equipment by boat, [Evelyn] rose to the challenge of writing some music on a unique roadtrip. By bringing the gear, a decent sound engineer and the N.O.W. live band members in camper vans on the long journey from the UK to the Balears and with a setting that ready provided inspiration, the rapport in exchanging ideas was instant…"
Like his past albums, it promises to once again be an uplifting, joyful and cross-genre mélange that will undoubtedly fit neatly into his catalogue.
