- The division of labour between Cassegrain and Tin Man seems straightforward on the surface: Tin Man works those weepy 303s, and Cassegrain apply a grainy techno thump. But I'd like to think there's more to it than that. "Seduct Seduct," for instance, seems to be a product of reciprocation: Tin Man's clean acid groove is a natural glue for the fluttering hi-hats and a beat that goes back and forth, a little unsteadily, like a table tennis rally.
"Ether Ether" also suggests a more fluid approach. The smooth acid lines are prominent yet out of reach, while the tribal rhythm that beats alongside it is wiped clean of Cassegrain's customary analogue muck. "Faint Faint" and "Window Window" fall back on the trio's more meditative instincts. As a partial departure from their earlier work, Window Window shows demonstrable progress: where on previous EPs it seemed as if this group were still feeling out each other's boundaries, on this record they've started to challenge them.
