- Maral dismantles two Crass tracks and puts them back together in thrillingly ramshackle fashion.
- When Crass frontman Penny Rimbaud appeared on Maral's debut album, it made a strange sort of sense: both artists take a punk approach to sonics and politics, bent on tearing down typical Western ideals and doing it with a bang and a snarl. Now Maral returns the favour, combining two Crass tracks from their first LP as part of an ongoing remix series raising money for victims of domestic violence. What starts out as swaggering, overdriven breakbeat (think early Chemical Brothers on a nasty bender) becomes a psychedelic blur of sounds as Maral floats in Iranian folk music, the yearning vocals and tender string playing a counterpoint for Crass's jaggeed edges. It's the mix of melody, atmospherics and rugged sounds that makes Maral such a thrilling producer.
