- The one where Mall Grab discovers the Amen break.
- Mall Grab is a chameleon. It's hard to think of a contemporary dance music style he hasn't tried out and made a hooky anthem out of, though usually in the within the framework of techno or house. On "Metaphysical," he takes a big leap out of his comfort zone and chains himself to the trusty Amen break, which yanks him on a wild ride through hardstyle synths and one of the biggest Reese basslines I've heard all year.
"Metaphysical" almost sounds like if the Shut Up And Dance crew emerged cryogenically frozen in 2022 and tried to make contemporary techno. (Mall Grab calls it an homage to London.) His own trademark is there in the larger-than-life hi-hat pattern—built for today's big rooms—and while there's a whiff of pastiche here (and a slightly aggravating vocal sample), you can't deny the absolutely monstrosity of this track. "Metaphysical" could easily be another one of those cross-genre hits Mall Grab seems to always have up his sleeve.
