  • This collaborative EP from New York's Kellen303 and Mexico City-based Tristan Arp is a deep dive into just how twisted, syncopated percussion can sound. Given the scale of these serpentine drum patterns, it's easy to imagine them as a tangled mess, but each beat lands with acute impact, underlining the duo's careful precision. "suspension of disbelief" is a delightful blend of texture and rapturous moments, courtesy of animated vocals and intermittent, gossamer synth lines. It's a style that brings to mind the whirling, emotive tactics of 3024 boss Martyn. Kellen303 and Arp describe their 12-inch as "a very New York record," a fitting way to summarise its combination of tightly constructed breaks, multi-hued tones and curvy shapes.
