  • In Indian cinema, masala films freely mix multiple genres into a single plotline. Taking a page out of the Bollywood playbook, New Delhi producer Stain incorporates contrasting moods into his dubstep productions. The opener of his new EP nods as much to Timbaland as it does to Jack Sparrow's nocturnal electronics, incorporating battle-ready beats with sinister instrumentation like shadowy woodwinds. The slow creep of the drums, allowing Stain's foreboding sound design to come to the fore, highlights his love of UK bass sounds. Following last year's collaborations with Zed Bias and DJ Plead—not to mention an India tour with Oblig—Stain is steadily gathering momentum as a must-know club producer both on the subcontinent and beyond.
